dorm beds or double rooms available. definately for the budget traveller. small and friendly. can get a bit cold but it's worth it for the view and the fact that the other guests and the staff are sooo friendly. buckets of hot water available for Rs10. . the best view anyway in kodai from the veranda. . homemade chocolate. . friendly atmosphere Greenlands Kodaikanal (Kodai) Rates and Room Information

I really liked the place, its amazing view and breathtaking scenic tree lines that would be seen from the verandah itself was really nice. But I had a bad experience as the reception told me there's no dorm bed available and hence I had to take the private room for 500 rs. Per night. I stayed in Greenlands for 4 days during mid of May 2009. I googled their website for details and found their phone number. After calling them I was told to deposit the advance booking money in their ICICI bank account. I was little bit hesitant. Anyway I did and had my room confirmed.

There are two reasons for staying at Greenlands:
1) The views are fantastic. From the balcony you can see the skyline in 180 degrees. It consists of endless mountains. And since these are viewed from the highest point it is quite dramatic, but obviously not in a Himalayaesque way.

i hvae been to kodai twice .. i think this is the best place to stay in kodai ... and what's better .. it is cheap .. you will find tourist from all over the world there .. sitting outside .. and reading .. relaxin in the sun .. well there is actually no need to wander out if you are here .. the place in itself is so complete ... read more »

Agree with this posting. Spectacular views and when we were there, spectacular thunderstorms. A friendly place but unless it has changed, limited food available. That's not a problem though as there are plenty of restaurants in town.
