Desert Boy Guest House Jaisalmer Post #1 of 2. My little contribution to the Hotels & Lodging. DESERT BOY. a wonderful guest house runned by Pradeep. Wonderful roof rooms (among others. but the best), with fan, WC, cushions, and views of the outside of the fort. Restaurant at the top, music, wonderful kitchen (try the momo's. specialty from Nepal. mmmm, just AMAZING!), and incredible ambiance to chat at sunset at candle light with other backpackers. Even got computer with internet. He organizes camel and jeep safaris (shame we got no time enough to try it. next time!). Fare: round 300 rupies. By the way, his jeep driver, took good care of us. bought bus tickets to Udaipur, arrange guest house at Udaipur and took us to the bus stop. THANX!!. no extra charge. Like: the rooms at the top, the views, dawn and raise of sun. the restaurant, the cozyness of the place, Pradeep and his people are wonderful !!. Dislikes: a silly thing. to write something. The WC next to the rooms in the top, smells a little. of course it was almost 45 degrees hot in Jaisalmer last September!!.

Pleasant stay inside the fort

I stayed at Desert Boy's in February 2012. My 1300rs room had a window that looked out over the forts wall down to the city. The bed was comfortable, better than most hotels in India. The room had a large sitting area and an equally large bathroom. I liked the colorful Rajasthan inspired decor. The restaurant food was very good. ... read more »

My condition for recommending this hotel (which is clean and attractive) is that you do not go on their camel safari! Far from the 'oasis lunch stop' we were promised, we spent the heat of the day huddled under the shade of a single tree, in the middle of an arid field. And despite specifically promising 'full bedding' we were ... read more »

My husband and I stayed in a really cute, tiny room with a window looking right out over the fort wall for Rs 300, a really great deal. I was shocked and amazed at how incredible the Italian food was at the rooftop restaurant!!!!! The BEST homemade pasta sauce I've EVER tasted!!!!
Great camel safari too. The guides were ... read more »

I stayed here in November 2005. My room with bath was 800 rupees. It was okay but the best aspects of this hotel is its location and the service of its staff. Also, I recommend their breakfasts on the roof (great toasted egg and cheese sandwiches) and their desert tour was outstanding! ... read more »

Great place to stay
My wife and I stayed here in early January 2005. We took one of the nicer rooms, which cost Rs950.
* Clean room with nice furnishings
* Great people running the place
* Free train pickup/dropoff
The only dislikes about the place:
* They don't clean toilets all that well; I wouldn't take a ... read more »
