I stayed at Chonor House for three nights, first in the Nomads Room, which has a wrap-around balcony overlooking the Temple, then was moved to the the Kham Room which has a more private balcony as a group came in that wanted rooms together. Hidden hotel worth the trouble

We decided to stay here for our last night in Mcleod as a treat to ourselves (since it is pretty expensive for the area). Finding this hotel is pretty tricky, there are 2 ways to get there, one is the way described in Lonely Planet and there is also a way to get there by going up a road near the Dalai Lama's complex.
