This has become my regular hotel when I'm in Kolkata. As the website suggests, it's functional and friendly, with good value non-a/c rooms. You can book ahead by email. They don't do airport pickups, but suggest you use the prepaid taxi. Next to Chandni Chowk metro station so convenient for many places. The restaurant is excellent, always packed in the evenings with Indian businessmen having a meal and a few drinks -- if you can't stand the cigarette smoke, use room service. An old fashioned, cheap, noisy hotel

I stayed in a family room because I wanted the balcony. The room was huge. The beds super hard, I stacked two actresses together plus used extra blankets for padding. The street noise dies down at night but lots of noise from the hallway all night long. Nothing like cricket matches on your eighbors TV at 2 in the morning. ... read more »
Awesome Indian Atmosphere

The Broadway Hotel is a place you either love or hate. I love it, and here's why:
- The location is far away from the tourist trappings of Sudder Street, in a working-class area with (admittedly) all the trappings of a Kolkotan area. The traffic's pretty intense, but the experience is totally Kolkotan.
