Very welcoming guesthouse. Uniquely situated on a backwater lake and a quiet beach in a very relaxing area. Run by Nazir and Rosie who excel in making guests feel welcome and well fed. Prices include all meals. The cooking is superb classical Keralan cuisine, and mealtimes are set round the communal table and so are a great chance to meet other guests and the hosts. The owners are both widely travelled and fluent english speakers. They are also well connected with their local community and very helpful in arranging trips to local Theyyam and Kalari / martial arts events, plus ayurveda and yoga services. There are three or four beautiful and quiet beaches in easy walking distance. Another bonus is the guesthouse canoe which is there for the guests to use (try a going out for a moonlight canoe trip for a really magical experience). Rooms are basic but comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our homestay with Nazir and Rosie, who are interesting, open people. The area is beautiful and still unspoilt, though I do have my fears as to what may happen here in the next few years.
