The Indiamike.com site is a place to exchange information and ideas, post pictures, chit-chat, and most importantly have fun! This India travel site is frequented by people from all over the world. Our members come from all walks of life, each with their own opinions and impressions. For a vibrant and harmonious community, it is important that all our members respect and follow our simple forum rules and standards.
The indiamike.com forum uses an automated infraction system, with each violation resulting in infraction points being assigned to each user for a specific amount of time. Infraction points are cumulative, and the severity of the action depends on the total infractions points. Guidelines the moderation team follows are noted below.
- 3 points: 1 day ban
- 5 points: 1 week ban
- 9 points: 1 month ban
- 10+ points: Permanent ban
The indiamike.com moderation team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and does not violate community standards. Failure to comply will result in actions ranging from a warning, to a permanent ban without warnings from the site. Moderation decisions are not subject to discussion on the public forums.
Forum Rules and Community Standards:
- No Personal Attacks or Insults (2 points for 10 days): Remember there is a person on the other end of that keyboard. Feel free to discuss opinions, but keep it to the issues. No name-calling or personal insults!! All complaints need to be communicated privately using either PM, "Report Post" feature and/or EMail. Please try to keep it fun and friendly.
- No Trolling (3 points for 15 days): Posting of inflammatory posts or threads with the sole purpose of starting an argument ("trolling") is not allowed. Examples of trolling include broad-brush criticizism of people or groups, and getting personal when disagreeing with people or opinions. Do not reply to such messages, as they only encourage the offender to post more. Rather, click on "Report Post" (
 ) and they will be dealt with appropriately.
- No Offensive Content (5 points for 1 month): Do not use profanity, racial, ethnic, religious, or other slurs, or post pornography or any other offensive material. Violation of this rule will result in a permanent ban with no warnings.
- No solicitation (Permanent ban): Solicitation for commercial or charity-based organizations of any kind, without the written consent of IndiaMike.com, is strictly forbidden. Any solicitation activity through user controlled content including, but not limited to user names, signatures, member profiles, and posts is strictly forbidden. Any violation of this rule will result in a permanent ban with no warnings.
Content regarding commercial or charity-based organizations is only allowed if you are posting a legitimate reply to a question and you have no affiliation with the organization. Any violation of this rule will result in a permanent ban with no warnings.
- No Multiple Postings (1 point for 10 days): Find the board you want your post in and post it. Posting the same message in multiple forums is not allowed.
- No Nonsense or Gibberish (1 point for 10 days): Worthless posts with no content and nonsensical posts eat up space and waste everyone's time.
- No Disclosure of Personal Information (5 points for 1 month): Do not disclose any other member's email, Personal Messages, real name, address, phone number, IP address, or other personal information.
- No posting of Copyright material (2 points for 10 days): You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you. If you would like to post a article from another site, like a news site, please read this thread on the proper way to do this.
Appeals Process:
If you feel you have been unfairly warned or banned from the site, contact the moderation team through PM or through the Contact Us link on the site. Do not discuss moderation warnings and decisions in the public forums. Attempts to do so will be viewed as trolling attempts, and will result in additional actions. The team will review the decision and notify you if it has been overturned.
Privacy Policy:
We require an email address for board registration. This allows us to reset your password if you forget, or contact you if needed. We respect your privacy, and your email and/or other personal information will not be disclosed or sold to a third party. Your email address is NOT displayed in your user profile, unless you specifically select to display it. Certain personal information at registration (birthday, occupation, interests, AIM name, homepage...etc...) is optional to enter, however if you choose to enter, it will be visible in your user profile for all visitors of this site to see.
